Our Snow Cone "Party"
February 25, 2019
This Thursday is our field trip to Walnut Creek. We will be going to Civic Park to eat our lunches. Please be sure to bring a disposable lunch/drink. Then over to the Dean Lesher Theater for our play. Please wear your class t-shirt that day and bring a booster seat, if you still need one.
We worked on a fun Me on the Map project this week. We learned our street name, city/town, state, country, continent and planet!
We also started our unit on communities. This work includes learning the differences between urban, suburban and rural communities.
We started our animal unit on Friday and they were all really interested to learn the classification of a variety of animals. Do you know that a pangolin is a mammal?
We continue to work on Module 6. Module 6 lays the conceptual foundation for multiplication and division in Grade 3 and for the idea that numbers other than 1, 10, and 100 can serve as units. Topics in this module include: Formation of Equal Groups, Arrays and Equal Groups, Rectangular Arrays as a Foundation for Multiplication and Division, and The Meaning of Even and Odd Numbers. We will continue to work on regrouping, as this concept needs to be mastered before the end of the year. Please be sure to work on math facts with your child at home. We really should have those 1-20 addition and subtraction facts down pat before 3rd grade.
READER'S & WRITER'S:
We will start to wrap up our Reader's and Writer's Realistic Fiction units this week. We will begin publishing our final drafts in writing.
